Life in the green – Vitaverde

One of the purest air in Europe, 300 days of sunshine a year, dry and warm air, the nocturnal breeze of Haute Provence, the calm of the fields of olive trees and lavender: you are at the crossroads of regional natural parks the Luberon, the Baronnies provençales, the Verdon and the geological reserve of Haute Provence, at the foot of the southern slope of the Lure mountain.
It is in this unique setting that our region offers its sports activities, astronomy, cultural and heritage visits. Its gastronomy and regional products will thrill your taste buds.
If you can't think, walk. If you think too much, walk. If you think wrong, walk again . John Giono

Hikes and walks : local mountain guides can take you hiking in the region from a few hours to several days. The Alpes-de-Haute-Provence offer 5000 km of marked trails including 800 km of GR, 700 km of GR country and more than 3500 km of PR.In spring, you will walk between wild peonies, southern tulips and fragrant woodruff. In summer, you will stroll between lavender and little secret corners that can refresh you. In the fall, nature will become flamboyant. In winter, you will surprise a few chamois during a walk on skis or snowshoes, before returning to drink a good hot chocolate by the fireside.

The round of jas, which leaves directly from the bastide (3 to 4 hours, 9km, accessible to children without problem) will show you the pastoral tradition of the region.
Another extraordinary place on the geological level with impressive landscapes is to be discovered less than 30 minutes away: the Geopark of Haute Provence .

Why not take the opportunity to introduce your children to bivouac in the middle of nature, or spend the evening with the family around a campfire?

We can lend you hiking maps and advise you.

To prepare your hikes, contact your mountain guide, a specialist in the Lure mountains, fauna, flora and conscious walking:

Cycling and mountain biking : Cruis is a stage town in thegreat crossing by mountain bike of the Alpes de Haute Provence. We are also between 2 mountain biking bases ( Val de Durance and Pays de Forcalquier - Montagne de Lure ) which offer you nearly 500 km of circuits and around thirty routes of all levels.

You can also set off by bicycle (early in the morning of course...) directly on the country roads from the bastide, with or without electric assistance ( http://www.easyveloelectric.fr ).
Horse riding : for horse lovers, we recommend the Rocher d'Ongle 12 km away or the Janssaud Horse Riding Center 15 km away.

Canyoning, rafting, white water sports :rivers or sections of rivers close to the bastide will allow you to descend canyons or water hikes: the Durance, the lower part of the Buech, the Asse and the Bléone in times of high water.
A little further, Ubaye, Verdon, Var, these three giants of white water sports invite you to discover the pleasures of canoeing, rafting, white water swimming, canyoning, aquatic hiking, not to mention a real network of clues (about fifty routes).
Without forgetting the trout fishing in all these fish-filled rivers...

Swimming : the clear waters of the Méouge and Trévans gorges invite you to swim. Less than 15 km from the bastide, in Sisteron, the 5,000 m2 lake Les Marres is reserved for swimming and offers a play area including a skate board area and a fitness trail. Les Buissonnades in Oraison (30 mins from the bastide, three small lakes over an area of 18 ha) offer the possibility of swimming or fishing and a landscaped botanical trail.
Air sports: for lovers of paragliding, hang gliding , gliding, ULM or glider, the aerology of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence allows you to discover grandiose landscapes all year round.

Climbing and via ferrata : 600 routes are open in Haute Provence , with all levels of difficulty. A fun and thrilling alternative, 3 via ferrata are available to you in the region . Advantage: these sports can be practiced all year round thanks to our privileged sunshine.

Skiing and snowshoeing : in the mountains dear to Giono, the Lure mountain ski resort, 10 km as the crow flies from the village of Cruis, is a family resort with an exceptional panorama.A place for discovering and learning to ski gently, but also a favorite starting point for Nordic hiking, on skis or on snowshoes. The area is located between 1600 and 1850 m above sea level.

Astronomy
For astronomy enthusiasts, we have installed 2 bases on the property to fix your telescopes.
The Astronomical Society of the mountain of Lure or the observatory of Saint-Michel l'Observatoire allow you to explore further and offer you many activities to discover the stars.
